Correction and editorial revision — 23 October 2026: This retrospective replaces the earlier mixed-time narrative with dated provider observations. The previous interpretation assigned a single macro cause to a mixed price pattern. The earlier causal explanations and trading implications are withdrawn; their removal is not a finding that every cited event was false. The original input file is unavailable. The cutoff below is the calendar day before the original publication date, selected for this reconstruction; it is not a claim about what was known when the original article was written.
This archive review uses observations available in the retrieved daily history on or before 2026-05-08. Each market has its own closing time. The question is: Did Lower Yields Resolve an Inflation-versus-Growth Debate?
The measured comparison
The US 10-year yield proxy moved from 4.392% on 2026-05-07 to 4.364% on 2026-05-08. The difference is -0.028 percentage points, or -2.8 basis points. Dividing the change by the earlier yield instead gives -0.64%; that relative change in a yield quote is not a bond investment return. US 10-year yield proxy history.
From 2026-05-01 to 2026-05-08, the proxy changed -1.4 basis points. The daily change is only one part of that interval. The Nasdaq’s latest daily return was +1.71%, and its five-interval return was +4.51%. These measurements do not decompose expected policy rates, inflation expectations, real yields or the term premium. A nominal yield series cannot stand in for all four.
Reproducing the longer comparison
The five-interval baseline is 4.378% on 2026-05-01; the endpoint is 4.364% on 2026-05-08. Subtract the baseline from the endpoint and multiply by 100 to obtain -1.4 basis points. No compounding is needed to express the difference between two yield levels.

Scope and limitations
Returns are calculated before rounding from Yahoo Finance daily history, not independently verified exchange settlement records. Index values are in points; the yield proxy is quoted in percent; currency quotes are local units per US dollar; gold and WTI futures are dollars per ounce and barrel. Futures-series changes can reflect contract rolls and are not a continuously held contract’s investment return. These are retrospective observations, not live prices or a reconstruction of every intraday quote available to the original author.
